The few dollars it requires to afford decent hosting each month is so worth it. If you’re serious about starting and maintaining a website, you have to be able to cough up the five-or-so bucks a month it’ll cost you. Keep in mind, though, the cheapest service in existence isn’t guaranteed to be the best.
Your hosting plan is set up with WordPress installed and ready to go. We back up your site nightly and help keep it safe by insuring you’re always on the newest version of WordPress with all the security updates applied.
VPS plans are similar to shared plans in that both feature multiple websites hosted on a single server. However, VPS plans maintain a strict separation between clients and websites when it comes to resource allocations. Your site gets its share, and no one else may use your resources (conversely, you may not cannibalize the resources allocated to others’ websites either).
Abby Hardoon, Founder and MD of second generation web hosting company Daily.co.uk says: “Hosting is very much a horses for courses thing – it’s a question of getting the best and most appropriate solution that you can afford. There’s no need to hamstring yourself financially, though. If you’re just starting out or you’re a relatively small business and you know your way around a server, you might like to consider a Virtual Private Server (VPS), for example – they provide the flexibility of a dedicated server but at a reduced cost.
Domain hosting: All websites need a domain name that must be hosted along with the actual site content. Typically, a server will host both the domain (where the site is located) and the site. The best domain hosts offer a complimentary domain name registration for at least the first year of service.
We also like that Media Temple has plans that provide managed hosting on top of Amazon’s Web Services. AWS has an enormously powerful infrastructure, but can be confusing. By providing managed hosting on top of AWS, Media Temple provides the power of AWS, without the technical challenge. Going along with the theme of more robust hosting services, the company provides an access panel that allows an at-a-glance view of the status of all their major systems.
Alternatively, I could go with one of the Low Cost Hosts you’ve reviewed, but take out some sort of 3rd Party WP Annual Support Contract, which might mean I could save even more time, by being able to call on assistance – not only with Hosting Issues – but also for other WP Challenges not directly related to Hosting.
There is no cap on the disk space we provide to deliver the content of your website. As long as you are fully compliant with our Terms of Service and utilize storage for the normal operation of your iPage website, you will have access to unlimited space.
Host1Plus offers very reasonably-priced hosting plans with many options for scaling up as your business grows. You can easily upgrade from their shared hosting, VPS hosting, and cloud hosting plans as needed. Even their cloud server plans have a low-cost entry point and you can choose between Linux or Windows servers.
I absolutely share Charles’ opinion. CloudFlare is a very powerful and yet affordable way to optimize the performance, security and reliability of your website. The fact that it caches your content across a global network allows for it to be delivered really fast to your visitors no matter where they’re located. current web hosting plan with BGOcloud includes CloudFlare CDN and I see the benefits from it. The speed of requests is a loooot faster now, which is just great.
InMotion came out looking decent during the Load Impact test, with an approximate average of 0.8 seconds and a couple of moderate spikes above the 1 second range. Pretty good for a budget WordPress web host.
